Kim Barney received a Bachelor of Science degree in Organ Performance in 1974 from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon and served as Youth Choir Director at Trinity Episcopal Church in Portland. He then served as Musical Director at Tri City Community Church in Kennewick, Washington. He moved to First Lutheran Church in Kennewick to serve for 15 years as the Church Organist/Choir Director. Kim & Alma moved to the Kingston area in 2018 and they decided to make ERMUC their spiritual home. They both became members of the church choir. During 2019, Kim has filled in as a church organist and choir leader. In January 2020 he accepted six-month employment as the Music Director.
And what a six months that was because, starting in mid-March, our church was closed to worship services due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Not to be deterred, Kim joined the team to present our services online. In particular, Kim became adept at using software to mix recordings by individual choir members into a choir and our services have been enriched by the music that he and his “choir” have provided.
Beginning is September, Kim accepted an offer to become our organist and of course continues to provide the music for our online services.
