Thank you to Spirit Sisters for leading our worship service this Sunday

Sprit Sisters will lead our worship service this Sunday with several participants including original music compositions by Margaret Moncrieff. The theme for worship is Colour!  What adds colour to our lives? What drains colour from our lives? How does faith breathe colour into our lives?

CHECK YOUR EMAIL FOR THE LINK FOR EACH INTERACTIVE WORSHIP SERVICE (NEW LINK SENT EACH WEEK).  If you are not receiving our weekly email newsletter (Tidings) use the form at the bottom of our contact page to join the mailing list and specify that you want links to online worship.

NOTICE – Congregational Meeting This Sunday May 24

A congregational meeting of Edith Rankin Memorial United Church will be held immediately after the worship service on Sunday,  May 24, 2020 (approximately 11:10 am).  The purpose of the meeting is to consider the report and recommendations of the Search Committee. The meeting will be held using RingCentral Meetings, the video conferencing application we have been using for worship services.

The Search Committee Report will not be circulated beforehand but briefed at the meeting.  This will be an important occasion and I encourage you all to take part.

– Christopher Sproule, Chair of the Congregation

There are several ways of continuing to support the ministries of our congregation for the next few weeks when we are not “passing the plate.” Some of you already give through Pre-Authorized Remittance (PAR). If you would like to join the PAR programme, contact the Church Treasurer using this form. You can also give through Canada Helps, using PayPal, or by sending and e-transfer through your bank to the church email address churchoffice@ermuc.ca (make sure you specify to which fund you are directing your donation).  The first Sunday of each month we ask for donations to the Benevolent Fund to respond to local requests for urgent needs. Please indicate if you would like a donation to be directed to the Benevolent Fund.

Artisan’s Bazaar Planning Meeting

You are invited to join in the planning of this year’s Artisans’ Bazaar. The meeting is scheduled for Wed. May 27 at 10:00 am using RingCentral Meetings (the application we use for worship services). All those interested in contributing to the planning, please notify Jean Barna by the end of day on Monday May 25 (using the email in the email version of Tidings).

I greatly appreciate your support and contributions. – Jean Barna

June Mini Anchor – call for submissions

Your Anchor Team thought that a publication for late June might be a fun way of keeping connected as we move into the summer months.  Let’s fill it with comments about our year  with Bill and Joe, and of course our feelings as we have worked our way through this Covid -19 time.  One or 2 sentences only.
To start you off:
Celebrate the ministry of our supply Ministers
Think about what Covid -19 has meant as a community of faith
Please feel free to use your own phrases, but we want to include as many as possible so we are hoping for a lot of “one-liners”
Please respond to us using the email in the email version of Tidings.  We will look forward to receiving your contributions!
Patti & Paul

We are all in this together

What do you need?

It’s hard for us to know how we are doing and what we might need when we are isolated from each other. Do you need some help? Do you need a phone call? Do you need someone to  pick up some supplies for you? Do you need someone to help with a household project (as a safe distance). Pick up the phone or use that contact form on the website to reach out.

What can you offer?

The current situation of physical distancing to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus challenges us to do mission and ministry as a congregation differently. We are also adapting to having our regular office administrator Tanya off on leave. Are you wondering how you could offer your gifts and skills to these new challenges?
Call the church office at 613-389-2530 or use the email contact form on the website to reach out.
